Departments

Student Development is made up of various departments, offices and centers that work together to assist students with their transition into college; their social, academic and professional growth; their overall wellbeing; and the shift to life after college. These include:

Academic Skills Center
The Academic Skills Center provides students with support that will enhance their academic experience and personal development, assisting them in learning ways to improve their cognitive skills.

Counseling and Psychological Services
CAPS offers a wide range of counseling and psychological services to full-time students at Richmond.
 
Career Development Center
The CDC connects students with alumni, advice and opportunities for professional advancement including resume critiques, practice interviews, internships/job searches and much more.

Common Ground
The Office of Common Ground works with students, staff and faculty to support the University’s commitment to inclusive diversity and help build a more inclusive community on campus.

Undergraduate Housing
The Office of Undergraduate Housing is dedicated to providing a safe, comfortable and supportive environment that complements students’ academic and social development.

Multicultural Affairs
Established in 1987, the Office of Multicultural Affairs was designed to help socially and culturally diverse students maximize their college experience through support and a variety of programs and specially planned events that embrace and celebrate diversity.

Recreation and Wellness
This department strives to promote the overall wellbeing of Richmond students both mentally and physically.

Student Activities/Greek Life
Located in the Tyler Haynes Commons, the Office of Student Activities oversees all aspects of student life including student organizations, Greek life, the Spider Shuttle and many other services.

Student Health Center
The on-campus Student Health Center offers comprehensive care including health education, health maintenance, and the treatment of illness and injuries.

WILL

The Women Involved in Living and Learning Program (WILL) combines coursework in women, gender and sexuality studies with leadership training for women students.

Coordinate Colleges

The University of Richmond is home to a coordinate college system, which means that students can enjoy the experience of a coeducational university while retaining the benefits of a single-sex college. Richmond College is for undergraduate men and Westhampton College is for undergraduate women.
