Throughout her career Dr. Cade has focused her efforts upon supporting students to reach their academic and professional goals. As the Director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs, she has established and implemented a variety of programs to enhance interpersonal growth, leadership development, a strong sense of empowerment, academic accomplishment, and the ultimate retention of American students of color at the University.

Dr. Cade established the office of Multicultural Affairs in 1987 and has served as its’ sole Director throughout this time span. Within the office she has provided leadership in developing and implementing a comprehensive slate of programs and initiatives to support the admission, retention and personal growth and development for American students of color. Under her leadership, some hallmark initiatives include the Pre-Orientation transition program for incoming first-year students, various ethnic affinity support groups, special celebratory events, and the Oliver Hill Scholars Program. Dr. Cade is also the associate vice president for Student Development, and the Head of Student Disability Services here at the University. Over the years she has been actively engaged in several campus wide strategic plans, search committees, retention efforts, and discipline reviews, to name a few.
